感物作为木地板品牌,在创立之初便提出了木之年轮旋转生长的概念,且曾以此为切入点,就品牌中的“本、末、术、未”四个产品系列标识进行创意设计,得到“旋转的汉字”作品。2024年,我们再次基于这一概念,推出“感物咖啡”,并邀请感物品牌VI系统的设计师702design-梅数植继续为感物设计咖啡的VI系统,将木的“旋转”用手冲咖啡的方式转化和延续。首个感物咖啡空间则邀请如恩设计,设立在以木之年轮为概念而打造的感物上海“旋”展厅内。
As a wood flooring brand, Ugan concept put forward the concept of “wood rings rotating growth” at the beginning of its foundation, and used this as a starting point to creatively design the brand's four product series logos,“本,末,术,末”,and obtained the“rotating kanji” work. In 2024, we launched“Ugan concept coffee” based on this concept and invited 702design-Mei Shuzhi, the designer of Ugan's Vl system, to continue designing the system for Ugan's coffee series, which translates the rotating of the wood rings in the form of hand-brewed coffee. Neri&Hu was invited to design the first Ugan coffee space in the Ugan concept shanghai“Twisting”showroom, which isalso based on the concept of wood rings.

The “Rotation” in Hand-brewed Coffee
在对木之年轮与“生命旋转”这一概念进行思考和设计转化的过程中,我们发现,类似的旋转符号不仅仅存在于木头里,也体现在手冲咖啡的制作过程中。比如手磨咖啡豆时,需要握着研磨器手柄转动画圈,将咖啡豆逐渐磨成粉末;在冲注时,也需要手持水壶,以画圈的方式向咖啡粉中注入热水,充分地激发咖啡的天然风味……这些都是与年轮形状相吻合的“旋转”动作。
In the process of thinking about the concept of the annual rings of wood, we found that similar rotational symbols do not only exist in wood, but are also embodied in the process of making hand-brewed coffee. For example, when grinding coffee beans by hand, you need to hold the grinder handle and draw a circle to gradually grind the beans into powder; when brewing, you also need to hold the kettle and draw a circle to inject hot water into the coffee powder, to fully stimulate the natural flavour of the coffee. ...... These are all ‘rotating’ actions that match the shape of the wood rings.
因此,手冲咖啡的萃取过程其实也包含着时间流动、自然生长的意味,甚至可以看作旋转的木之年轮的“另一种形态”,并由此与木地板产生了连接。基于此,感物咖啡诞生了,也沿用了木地板的系列名称,分为“本”“末”“术”“未”四款不同产区和烘焙程度的咖啡。
Therefore, the extraction process of hand-brewed coffee actually contains the meaning of the flow of time and natural growth, and can even be regarded as another form of the rotating annual rings of wood, which is connected to the wooden floor. Based on this, Ugan concept coffee was born, and also followed the name of the wooden floor series, divided into four different origins of the coffee, namely, 本, 末, 术, and未. The four coffees are of different origins and roasting levels.
Design Conversion of “ 一 \ | / ”
感物的汉字标识“本”“末”“术”“未”是由“木”与“一”在不同方位组合而来,而汉字“木”又是由横、竖、撇、捺四个笔画构成。设计师从中获得灵感,提取出对应四种笔画的四条直线“一 \ | / ”,分别与圆形组合,得到旋转滚动的四颗咖啡豆图案标识,实现从“木”的旋转到咖啡之旋转的转化。文字标识则在延续原有的品牌标识“Ugan concept”的基础上增加“coffee”字样,得到“Ugan concept coffee”。
The Ugan symbols“本”“末”“术”“未”can be viewed as the Chinese characters“木”and“一”are combined in different directions, and the Chinese character“木”is composed of four strokes: horizontal, vertical,apostrophe, and downstroke.The designer drew inspiration from this and extracted the four straight lines corresponding to the four strokes“ 一 \ | / ”, which were combined with a circle to obtain the logo of four coffee beans rotating and rolling realizing the transformation from the rotation of wood(木) to the rotation of coffee. When designing the text logo,the designer added the word “coffee” directly to the Ugan concept brand logo, resulting in“Ugan concept coffee”.
同时,原本的品牌标识中代表了木地板和第一层肌肤的重要元素“一”也被延续过来,作为浅色的底图,与四颗咖啡豆的图案标识和Ugan concept coffee文字标识共同构成完整的标识设计,并以灵活的贴纸、雕刻等形式运用于多种周边,包括用于冷饮和热饮的两种咖啡杯、对应着本末术未的四种咖啡盒、手提袋、标识牌等。
The designer also continued the important element “一” in the Ugan brand logo, which means “a piece of wooden floor” and “the first layer of skin in the space”, and together with the pattern of the four coffee beans and the text of “Ugan concept coffee”, it formed a complete Ugan coffee logo design, and applied it to a variety of peripherals in the form of flexible stickers and engravings, including two kinds of coffee cups for cold drinks and hot drinks,“本”“末”“术”and“未”four coffee boxes, as well as handbags, identification plates,etc.

Wood and Nature in Coffee Design
此次的咖啡设计在很多地方也体现出对木材料的运用和对自然、可持续观念的表达。比如咖啡盒均使用木头制作,盒内咖啡豆使用完后,木盒也可以作为日常储物容器继续使用;还有一款使用感物回收瓦板制作而成的限量木盒,由漆艺家范建军(范邱漆研所)用传统手工艺制作而成,是对回收木材料的再利用。
The coffee design also reflects the use of wood materials and the expression of natural and sustainable concepts in many places. For example, the coffee boxes are made of wood, which can be used as daily storage containers after the coffee beans inside are used up. There is also a limited edition wooden box made of recycled wood shingle, which is made by lacquer artist Fan Jianjun using traditional craftsmanship, which is a reuse of recycled wood materials.

除此之外,还配有纸质饮用杯、咖啡渣吸管等。标识牌也是用木头雕刻而成,用于咖啡门店外墙面及咖啡吧台,搭配空间中陈设的咖啡木盒和器皿,将木与自然的气息引入手冲咖啡的场景之中。
We also have paper drinking cups and coffee grounds straws. Signage, also carved from wood, is used on the exterior walls of the coffee shops and the coffee bar, and is paired with the wooden coffee boxes and utensils displayed in the space, bringing the scent of wood and nature into the hand-brewed coffee scene.
